RCI Time Share

Many people balk at the very thought of timeshare. Even though the business has taken some knocks due to unscrupulous individuals and companies that try to take advantage of the timeshare system for their own personal gain, timeshare still remains one of the most affordable ways to go on holiday. With groups like Marriott's, Interval International, and RCI, timeshare is becoming a respected business again that many people are flocking towards. When one considers some of the amazing deals that can be found with it, it no surprise.

The original idea of timeshare is not as new as some people might think. The original idea was created in Europe in the 1960's when a ski resort developer devised a new way to market his resort in the French Alps. His revolutionary idea of 'buying the hotel' rather than 'renting a room' became an instant success and the practice spread throughout the world. With groups like Marriott's and RCI, timeshare has become a big and rather complex business. The concept has moved on from the basic precept of vacation property ownership that it has been in years past and the business has become quite sophisticated with groups offering customers a range of options that were never possible.

There are many smaller companies that also use timeshare as a model for selling their property aside from larger groups like Marriot's and RCI. Timeshare today still works on the basic precept of selling 'slices of time' at a resort or hotel to customers. These slices can then be used by the 'owner' at no charge in most cases, though some groups require a nominal annual fee to keep using the service. Other groups or companies have changed to the 'points system' for their timeshare endeavors. In this case the customer pays an annual membership fee and is granted a number of points per annum. These points can be exchanged for accommodation at the resorts or hotels that are affiliated with the timeshare group. Points have the advantage of offering a little more flexibility where time is concerned but the points systems often have many restrictions as well.

Owners of timeshare are often able to exchange their 'slice to time' at one resort for the same period at another resort. Large groups that have many resorts affiliated to them often allow this; groups like RCI. Timeshare cannot only be exchanged but in some cases it can be rented or sold privately as well as long as the timeshare contract allows it. These transactions often need to be done within the auspices of the timeshare group along with certain payments that need to be made to make the transactions possible, but it allows for a great amount of flexibility and options that were not available before. Timeshare has come a long way from the early days and offers a range of possibilities that was not available before. With all the advantages that these large groups and even the smaller ones offer, there in no reason not to take a look at what timeshare can offer you.
